Welcome to my blog

Today, there are 1.7 billion websites in the world and of these 500 million are blogs. The world does not need any more blogs.

Yet, here I am starting my own blog.

It doesn't matter to me that the volume of blogged material already might be in the yottabyte range. Blogs are for the bloggers - to vent, reflect, judge, and inspire.

My blog will be primarily about men and the world we live in. The ever fluid, ever expanding continuum of sexual identities and preferences. The Marlboro man and western individualism. Emerging trends of what it means to be a man. Manhood displayed in other cultures. The Son of Man. And my own reality.

I will write about what it means to be a father, husband, brother, and friend, the wounds we carry, the addictions we enjoy, the fears that corrode our souls, the peaks we never seem to reach. The banner below is my menu.

I will also write about Christianity, the church, evangelicalism, theology, God, Jesus, heaven, hell, and the devil. I will write about social and moral issues, current events and history, conservatism and liberalism. Most important to me, I will write about the stories that helped forge the man I am today.

I intend to write with unprocessed honesty (raw) and with as much vulnerability as I can tolerate. That might mean using words I don't normally use, or explaining or describing something that is uncomfortable or even offensive.

I am by nature a provocateur. When I think about things I will write in this blog I see myself as an agitator, an incendiary. If you don't have spray-on flame retardant, you should not read this blog.

I am an evangelical Christian, a conservative Republican, a free market economist, a social libertarian, a moral government theologian, a conscientious environmentalist.

And by way of full disclosure, you should know I have a bias. I am in love with another man.

My audience is not the people who know me or him, or claim to know either of us. I write to men who want to see and live differently. My advice to them, in Emerson's words, "Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air."

This is my invitation to you. Defy bravely.
Deviate passionately. Be bold and breathless on an adventure to see things never imagined before.

Come be wild with me.
